There are real problems of using the ASCII relatives of Turkish letters:

döndür: return
dondur: freeze
dön: turn
don: underwear
sık: squeeze
sik: (a four-letter word)

Cool. Imagine this movie scene. A gangster is naked in a house of tolerance. A cop suddenly opens the door, and says: "Dondur! Durma sik! Döndür ile giymek don!" Missing the umlauts would quite confuse the gangster.
