I will not say that their broadcast is not needed.  Indeed, when I was
overseas, I listened to it from time to time, to find out if their were
special events such as expeditions I didnt know about.  Now- most all of us
have computers, but there are still places in the world that computer
connectivity is very expensive, or just plain non existant.  Heck, here in
the states, millions still dont have any connectivity, except possibly
satellite (some in mountains cant even see that) or call up on telephone
lines, which is s l o w .  I suspect the CW practice is still needed by a
few (a heck of a lot NEED it but wont bother), so I would not recommend its
demise.  Just its proper use- which included CHECKING THE FREQ before use.
