I had a problem with calling GetDisplayLayer on layer 1 that the primary layer just disappeared. But I found that after calling SetScreenLocation on layer 1 gets my primary layer reappear. You may try and see if it works for you, and please tell me your result, as I am still learning the mechanism behind directfb.
