Those are exactly the problems I have encountered last time.
To make the thing worse, I didn't find any test (or docs) which documents the
use of directBuffer.
So, in order to avoid breaking silently the code, I preferred to leave
everything everything as it was.
What about to first write (in case they don't already exists) some tests which
demonstrate the use of directBuffer?
