I've expressed in graphical form the difference between a "vertical
foundation" and a "horizontal foundation" as alternatives.
The fundamental differences are self-evident, IMO.
And I'm, for the life of me, now and forever, more in favor of a
vertical foundation: more powers, in good hands.
