Karl, My Constitutional Law professor liked to say to the people who would participate in class, "No good deed goes unpunished." I don't mind taking on this task. It's rewarding because I've wanted to get more involved with SFC and I'm learning a lot in the process.
Timing has definitely been on my mind. I wondered how effective a response might be the longer it takes to get out to the public. Thankfully, tomorrow is Friday. The weekend is a great time (at least for me) to sit down and work on this unencumbered by obligations at my internship. So what I'm thinking is: Monday sounds good. I want to get out a draft by Saturday for everyone to review/approve. To have more impact, we can/should be diligent about sharing the link to our response piece on our respective social media outlets. The more people comment <http://piratepad.net/KY6e7xIdkm>, the more helpful it is when I'm culling together a collective response. Jessica has been of great assistance in reminding us (me) to be careful with our (my) language and concessions (Thank you, Jessica). I like the idea of having an actual reponse letter prefacing the in-line commentary. I think it would be more impactful if people get more than just a Free Culture reaction piece. A visual of in-line commentary--the side by side comparison of arguments made--will give people more to think about, which will hopefully lead to an informed decision on where they stand. Jennifer, does that raise any red flags for you? > > -K >
