https://github.com/swcarpentry-ja/i18n The guidelines are a work in progress so hopefully we can streamline it as more people get involved and give feedback on how they went setting it up. At the moment, it's mainly a README as you've suggested. Part of the reason, I'm seeking to set up a discussion forum or mailing list is to co-ordinate these beyond the text issue. The Japanese language is not so complicated I think. It should be fairly clear what level of politeness to use for a website or lesson. Conjugations are mainly for tenses and grammatical purposes. The are no genders, plurals, or articles. What is more important I think is consistent changes for non-literal translation (for cultural reasons). For example, I'm not sure Japanese people will be familiar with the Wolfman and Dracula characters and these don't need to be explain to understand the lesson. It's easier to change it to characters Japanese people would know. Now that you mention it, a glossary might be a good idea too. It's a bit of a rush job at the moment to capitalise on interest in translators joining the project to give them something to try out and get involved. We can hold off if the system is not quite ready yet. Hopefully, they can try out translating the actual lesson text and we can merge any changes needed to handle more than 2 languages and smooth updates or collaboration.
