If you switch to another good SSD does ZFS simply fine a lot of checksum errors and kick the SSD? How exactly did you make the cable? > IllumOS kernel has been considerably better, often saved by the watchdog > timeout reset thing. > Lately my experience with the Illumos kernel, I'm not sure I agree. The last 4 disk failures I had on current OmniOS builds with all SAS hardware have resulted in failures like you are describing. I have over 1000 SAS spindles that will start driving every one crazy in a year or two as they get "old" and start dying more rapidly. I'd love to be able to simulate the problem to test new itterations of mpt_sas and maybe even submit some bug fixes my self. -Chip > > But one instance where I did manage to hang IllumOS the last log entries > were: > > genunix: WARNING /pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15d9,400@0 (mpt_sas0): > Timeout of 60 seconds expired with 1 commands on target 16 lun 0. > > genunix: WARNING /pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15d9,400@0 (mpt_sas0): > Timeout of 60 seconds expired with 1 commands on target 16 lun 0. > > genunix: WARNING /pci@0,0/pci8086,340c@5/pci15d9,400@0 (mpt_sas0): > mptsas_check_task_mgt: Task 0x3 failed.
