What people may forget: Sun added direct installation capability from over the net to pkgass 6 years ago on my request but they did never support (use) this feature. Last year, I created scripts that allow to convert the aprox. 500MB of packages crated from ON into 125 MB os compressed packages that will be understood by any recent pkgadd delivered by Sun. If you use that feature, there is not much you will miss in pkgadd.
