I found the following statement of my friend is very true: it's possible to guess which FreeBSD utility does by only looking at its name, but it's impossible for you to do the same thing with illumos. The illumos utilities have the most counter-intuitive and misleading names as possible. And there are multiple variants of the same utility from both the GNU project and illumos native. On FreeBSD, we only have one variant of the utility offered by the base system. Simple and consistent. ------------------------------------------ illumos: illumos-discuss Permalink: https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/Tbd0c00cc5a244c5a-M45640b410e9919f8e19bb393 Delivery options: https://illumos.topicbox.com/groups/discuss/subscription
