Make this another +1.  When the original iPad came out, a colleague got one, I 
played with it for a bit, and determined it was a big iPhone.  The toolset has 
changed quite a bit since then.   Ubiquitous VPN connectivity, seamless Dropbox 
integration, and for me iSSH - which provides SSH tunneling, VNC and and X 
server - I can now do almost all my work from this thing.

It is still easier and more convenient for me to get on a real system to do 
work, but for social gatherings I no longer need to lug a heavy laptop.  A very 
slim portfolio does it.  Hardest thing now is remembering to take it with me 
when I go somewhere.

I probably sound like an Apple shill...I'm sure connectivity from Android is 
much easier.  But the IPad offers a really seamless rich experience that I 
don't need to admin.  I've got way too many servers at home and at work to 
manage...nice to have a device that pretty much just works.
