Well, EU privacy laws don't seem to have had much effect on the actions of the 
UK's GCHQ. There's an international conspiracy at work to rob all the world's 
people of their privacy. (And that may have sounded crazy not so long ago, but 
there is factually no doubt about it anymore.)
