I used to be involved with the local chapter (ewb-ksu.org), kind of still am
since I own the domain name. It just redirects to their facebook page now....

And, 'own' their listserv and shared email account. The account has taken
different forms over the years, but since I/we used to run email it was
something I had created. (originally it was group account, which we set
forwards to all the officers...except that the web management interface only
allows a maximum of 5 forwards. But, at the time it was just a .procmailrc
script....

Been trying to get rid of group accounts, because sharing passwords is against
policy...but its the only way for all the group members to use it. Until
shared accounts were developed (or rather a way to manage them was...) Though
now that we're on O365...its just drowning in spam, and with lots of false
positives too.

As I recall, even though we're an official chapter that manages to convince
enough students to pay the huge dues to be one (plus I hear its based on the
size of the University, not the size of the chapter, etc...)....we/I got in
trouble because we're not allowed to associate our website with them.

Also, granted that some of our artwork was just their's with 'USA' replaced
with 'KSU'.....

Meanwhile...

Doesn't Global Giving have a "Technology for Education" fund?

Or, visiting Charity Navigator...searching for "Technlology Education" and
International....resulted in two results:

"Center of Excellence in Education"

The Center for Excellence in Education (CEE), founded in 1983, nurtures
careers of excellence and leadership in science and technology for
academically talented high school and college students. CEE is dedicated to
encouraging international understanding among future leaders of the world.

That doesn't sound like it fits the search....

"Anita Borg Institute"

The Anita Borg Institute (ABI) seeks to increase the impact of women on all
aspects of technology, and increase the positive impact of technology on the
world's women.

Also doesn't sound like it fits the search either.

"Global Giving: Technology for Education Fund"

http://www.globalgiving.org/techforeducation/

Improving the quality of education with technology....

Sounds like something I should consider giving to in the future (when I tire
of giving to medical research/patient support/awareness charities...)

Though I put money into Kiva, and have been 'lending' to women in foreign
countries needing help to advance their education....

I've given a lot in the past to DonorsChoose, largely due to ThinkGeek putting
up matching funds once...still give occasionally.... but they aren't global...

I also give to Plan USA (used to be ChildReach before I moved down here, or
was that a change that happened at some point after I moved down here.) Which
in addition to child sponsorship, you can give to various project areas or
special focus areas. They have an education one, but its not technology
focused. Right now I'm sponsoring a girl in Nepal...at least I think so, I may
have missed an update. I used to write to them, but then something would
happen and I would need to find another child to sponsor....got to where I
wondered if I was scaring them off by writing to them....
