On the flipside, EPIC (*massive* healthcare software company based nearby) is making sure their campus has an actual office for EVERYONE. They long ago found that cubicle layouts-- open or whatever- are totally counterproductive. They have ample meeting space for collaborative work, including a really cool tree-house :-)
While I have worked in both offices and standard cube environments, I consider myself fortunate I never had to deal with an open-style plan.
