I'm evaluating proposals for new SAN storage for our HPC cluster. My
requirements aren't fancy (~6TB SSD, ~80TB spinning rust, FC & iSCSI
connectivity, redundant controllers, no need for tiering, replication,
snapshots). Most of the responses to the RFP are pretty similar in terms
of hardware, performance specs, etc.
Can't help with the Infortrend, but I have nothing but praise for the Nexsan
(Imation) kit. We've used SATAboys, SATAbeasts and currently the E-Series.
We only use them as tier 2 block storage (iSCSI and FC) where they are rock
solid. When we've called support, they have been helpful and knowledgeable.
(We're using EMC VNX/Xtremio and VPLEX for tier 1.)
Jonathan.
