The problem about this - at least on the client side - is that you first have to _know_ that an action will wipe the playlist. At least in the Pandora case iPeng won't because that's actually an add command which doesn't add but wipe. It might be the same for some unsuspiciously looking menu options. Random Play is one but there I would know on the top menu level.
