Unfortunately, my c coding skills are nonexistent. I do get the following when running shairport
listening... Established under name '003331D0593E@McBair on McBee' and checking for the avahi-daemon returns ps -A|grep "avahi" 27551 ? 00:00:00 avahi-daemon 27552 ? 00:00:00 avahi-daemon but on the mac I also get information that the service is being registered, but that is probably OS dependent. I'm glad to help in any way, but given my coding days are long ago, won't be able to push much further. An enthusiastic thanks for the help in any case.
