All of which again just proves the point that a good phone UI and a good tablet UI have to look fundamentally different. You simply have very different requirements. On the phone you really have to max out on saving screen estate while its relatively easy to use simple single-touch gestures On a tablet you want to provide more controls and while single-touch gestures are less precise you can also use multi-touch gestures or more complex ones.
