An old-fashioned alarm clock has one significant advantage: you will be able to continue using it, as long as it continues to work, without having to worry if the external technologies it depends on will continue to support it. (Other than the power grid, that is, unless you go with a purely mechanical clock.) As you said, you've had your Radio a long time, probably ten years or more if you got it as a new product. Much has changed since it was in production, but it would still work for you, if the BBC were not discontinuing its support. LMS is a great solution for many people, but not a good fit for your situation. Since this is your only use of the Squeezebox/LMS ecosystem, and you have no need of its many other features, the cost and effort to keep your Radio working probably wouldn't make sense. Unless you happen to have an unused Raspberry Pi, or some other low-powered computer that you wouldn't mind leaving on all the time. There may be other internet radios that would work for you, if you want to continue waking up to Radio 3. A quick search turned up this information about some recent models from Grace Digital: https://support.gracedigital.com/hc/en-us/articles/204213520--NEW-BBC-live-streams-on-your-Grace-Radio Will those radios continue to work with evolving technology, ten years from now? That's impossible to predict! Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge). Occasionally using SB Radio, Boom or Classic. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ RobbH's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=67008 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117196 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/discuss
