Here is a small listening test, similar to one that sikahr provided. I choose a five different music tracks, and provided a four different samples (*1 to *4) for each one:
*1. The original wav file, ripped from 44100/16 audio cd, lowered 20dB. *2. Mp3 file encoded from sample *1, using lame --alt-preset extreme. *3. Wav file captured by playing sample *2, on the Squeezebox3 digital output. *4. Wav file directly decompressed from sample *2, using lame. Having all other things the same, that will show difference in squeeze mp3 decoder. If you use softsqueeze (or any other PC player), you may compare samples *3 and *4. That may give you the pretty good idea how audible the effect is. -- damir ------------------------------------------------------------------------ damir's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14119 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=40409 _______________________________________________ discuss mailing list discuss@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/discuss
