A lot of Albums that are clearly not compilations are flagged as such. So, while it sounds like a smart feature, the way it works now it is more of a defect :)
Speaking of workarounds - I prefer the "Classic" skin. But it also suffers when displaying Compilations. Instead of just indicating "Album AA" by "Various Artists" all of the artists are listed. When scrolling through the cover view, it looks pretty bizarre to have 20+ lines of artists listed.
