Ummmm, I know a LOT of accounting folks who would refer to themselves  
as bean-counters. It's a somewhat common vernacular actually, and none  
of the dictionaries I just looked at (three of them in total) make any  
reference to it being a pejorative phrase.

I don't think it's a lack of respect at all, nor was it insulting them  
in any way. I have the highest regard for the folks who navigate rules  
and regulations so complicated it makes AIX look simple.

This mutual respect is exactly why OUR finance folks and myself and  
our operations management got together to discuss how to make both of  
our jobs manageable when it comes to asset tracking, because that's  
how a good company functions. Which is what led to my original post in  
the first place.... :-)
