I've dealt with a /lot/ of dell kit and a little HP kit. My impression is that the ILM on the HP is much more robust than the DRAC, though it's possible that is just due to small sample size (I've managed tens of HP servers... but thousands of Dells, and you notice the failures, not the successes.) I've got no experience with HP support, (haha. I remember once I set up 5 or 10 HP boxes for a guy working in his garage... we figured out that his garage had a hot ground.. and the HP servers survived just fine.) My experience with dell support has been pretty negative. Granted, I think my customer was on a lower support tier... but god damn, it was like pulling teeth. Fixing the problem myself and RMAing the part in question to the original manufacturer (like I have to do when I build my own servers from parts) is generally half the effort of getting dell to fix it, at least for the intermittent problems. If smoke comes out of your power supply and the thing won't POST, they were pretty good. _______________________________________________ Discuss mailing list [email protected] http://lopsa.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/discuss This list provided by the League of Professional System Administrators http://lopsa.org/
