Hi Cheryl,
Sounds like a problem with the Cepstral voices themselves (and
perhaps in same "family" of problems with Cepstral voices described
on this list). In CSpeech, I use standard calls for opening speech
channels, getting speech info, sending text to the speech engine, etc.

Hi all.
I'm suddenly getting CSpeech errors when I change voices and/or
start speaking/convert to audio. Everything appears to be ok until
I switch to a cepstral voice. As soon as I select a cepstral voice
I get:
newspeechchannel error $-241 returned
and an "oh?" button. If I click on that button, I get returned to
the main window. If I ignore the error and after clicking the "oh"
button try to proceed with speaking or conversion I get:
SetSpeechInfo(soerrorcallback) error #-50 returned
Actually, if I choose conversion I get the save dialog first and
then the error. Once this happens, it continues no matter what
voice I choose. I had used cepstral voices before without a problem
though as I posted before the cepstral voices have some kind of
underlying distortion no matter what program I use. anybody know
what the problem is?
Events that might have lead to this:
1. Tried front row. However, I have completely uninstalled and
restored the effected files and rebooted.
2. Tried changing the rate for a cepstral voice in CSpeech; don't
know if that could have started the problem.
3. Did have an instance where DTBmaker quit unexpectedly on m; of
course a cepstral voice was being used at the time.
Any help would be appreciated.
Tia.
