That was extremely helpful.I appreciate your warnings regarding
accidently highlighting a folder and crating a new folder in the wrong
place unawares. It used to happen to me in windows too so I know what
you are talkig about.

presented with a dialogbox where you type in the name of the new
folder; private docs in your case.
Now, why I say do nothing upon entering your home folder, cause as
soon as you move the arrow keys or VO-keys to navigate, you've
highlighted a folder and if you press the command for new folder,
you will creat a folder within the highlighted folder. Let me
clarify this. You want a folder within documents called private
docs, you would just navigate with VO or the arrow keys to the
documents folder, do not enter that folder, just highlight it, and
finally command+shift+n and type in the new folder name. Now you'll
have a folder within documents called private docs.
You are suposed to be able to press command+option+control+f4 to
unhighlight a folder, but doesn't work for me for some reason, thus
is why I pointed out those steps on avoiding highlighting something
once you enter the home folder. Now maybe someone can correct me
cause maybe I have forgotten the command.
In any case, this should get you started and hope that helped.
