Keith, not sure, but might your audio levels be turned down / muted?... RE: force ejecting a disc, first off, is it mounted anywhere?... If it doesn't eject no matter what you do, then you can always shut down your MB and restart it. Hold down the mouse button (on the trackpad) for several seconds when you hear the chime.
