TK: If I understand things correctly, the 2Wire Gateway doubles as
a router and a DSL modem whereas the Airport Extreme is simply a
router. If I'm right with this assumption, then the Gateway gives
you the wireless connectivity within your house or other location
plus the DSL modem built in for Internet connectivity. The Airport
Extreme provides all the wireless connectivity but you'd still need
a Cable or DSL modem to gain connectivity to the Internet. The
Airport Extreme is an excellent wireless solution with Gigabit
connectivity on the wired connections and 130 MegaBit connectivity
on the wireless end of things. I'm not sure on the specs for the
2Wire so I can't make the comparison in that respect.
Hmmm, I'll have to look at that more closely. Does it matter what
brand of DSL modem you are using as respect to the router's data rate?
