Two ways to reduce your cost are to poke around int he Apple refurbished section

Another is to get the educational discount. My wife was a school teacher when we bought her MacBook and drop kicked her old Dell out the door. We just showed them her name listed on the school's faculty web site and they lopped off a good 10 or 15%. Must have been 15 because I could get %10 through a corporate employee discount and her discount was even better.

As far as heat goes, it depends on what you're doing. The CPUs run cooler when the machine is idle. When I compressed a 2GB file the fans kicked in and all that, but if I'm just web surfing or reading email I think the MacBook is mostly yawning. On exception is that if I leave it on sitting on something fluffy like a blanket the insulation and air vent blockage make the thing kick into full vacuum mode. Oh, and Parallels kicks in the fans most of the time as well.

I was about to get my MacBook, but wanted to know people's opinions. Should I
just get it directly from a local Apple store, or call the toll free number or
what to get it? And, is there any cheaper way to get one than Apple, and still
get one new? And one thing I never had answered was the glossy screen. Does
that cause any problems with someone sighted who may be looking at it? Or
someone vvisually impaired for that matter. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
