so in other words, the whole home folder which ocntains everything
doesn't it i.e. if i ask it to migrate will across from this mac,
all the data would come across so i would notice no changes?
TK: yes. It works especially well when you do this from the initial
Setup Assistant. Things don't work quite so neatly when you use the
Migration Assistant later.

Hi Will,
ok i am getting a better upgraded macbook tomorrow
can i just pop my leopard disk into the new machine and format the
drive without re installing the OS?
then boot up again from the cd, click the restore from backup
option under utilities, and chose a time machine backup?
will that put i guess the OS back on the system, the home folders,
and all accounts music, including i tunes purchases etc?
tIn other words, i assume the latest backup restores the new
laptop to how the old one is now
TK: If it did work, I believe that it would be more hassle than
it's worth. If you're new MacBook is brand new, it will already come
with Leopard pre-installed, and upon startup will give you the
option of copying all your data, user information and network
settings over from your old Mac. All you'll need in that case is a
firewire cable and the Set-up Assistant will guide you through the
rest. This process would also work if it's not a brand new
MacBook, simply use your Leopard DVD to install Leopard on the
newer MacBook and then follow the same migration options as
mentioned earlier.
