you know you could do what i do for voicemail messages, that's save
the vm messages, and not open them yet just press space to listen to
them in the quick look. Also you could select all files in audiobooks,
and do command I and tell it to skip tracks. I am cool with vlc, but
one thing i use it for is .avi files and also i dont know how to set
up play lists in it.
