As
far as I have found, if you delete items directly in iTunes from the
main music library and confirm the deletion and then having them moved
to the Trash, they are gone for good, unless you have a copy of that
file somewhere else on your computer. The thing is you must do this
in iTunes and not simply delete the files using finder from the iTunes
music folder.

really go away. If you snoop around in the iTunes library under for
example Music, you will find all kinds of items that should have
been deleted. I wish there really was a way to truly delete items,
instead of them still taking up loads os space.
