Well Scott and all the others who have so kindly been assisting me, I have Jaws 9 installed and powered my bootcamp partition successfully. I have made progress! Hoorrah! Now the problem is my keyboard. I've found key mapping in Fusion preferences but I don't know how to interpret the keyboard and mouse option and the table of shortcut keys. I'm feeling rather dumb! I know this is where so many of you have been reassigning the jaws insert key. In fact, when I'm in windows, I can't even go to the desktop. Is this what Will means by grabbing keyboard with command+g? I think I should go to the archives and seek some answers because we have had these discussions. I'm nearly there, Listers. Butt first bed! I'm exhausted. Hardly slept last night trying to make fusion and windows work. I have to sleep tonight. I shall report later. If you are not bored silly with me and have any further tips, I shall appreciate.

By the way, Scott, I couldn't find that setup option while trying to install vmware tools. I see lots of other buttons but nothing to do with setting up the vmware tools. I'm sure there's a simple explanation somewhere.

With best wisehs

Simon,
I would strongly suggest that you download a newer version of Jaws and install it on your bootcamp partition. I used version 9 with no problem. After you get this working under bootcamp, then restart under fusion. This will allow you to experiment with windows and your version 7 of jaws. I have installed jaws 10 this afternoon and it is working fine. When you install the vmware tools a windo is soposto pop up like a drive is discovered. Windows asks you what you would like to do. You have the option to look at the files in windows explorer or run the setup. You choose the setup and the tools install just like any other windows application. Good luck Have a great day.

Well, Listers, if I ever thought running fusion was going to be plain sailing, I should eat my words.

So, I now have Fusion installed and I try to run my Windows choosing bootcamp partition. I go to vmware menu and choose "power on". Windows starts booting and I hear my Jaws 7.1 introducing itself. Then nothing. I command tab and all I hear is either fusion or finder. I don't know where my windows is In vmware menu it seems that it should be running because "shut" option is available and indeed when I choose it, I can hear a lot of familiar noise in the machine so windows is shutting down. Why can't I get to it? Or is that Jaws crashes or doesn't speak? Is this because I run version 7.1?

Secondly, when I try to run bootcamp partition in Fusion, I get a message to install vmware tools but only after windows has booted. I choose install vmware tools. But I wait and wait and nothing happens apart from the fact that there is now a "cancel" button in vmware menu where "install vmware tools" was. But nothing happens. Do I need to wait longer than two mintues? Would the tools have been a part of my Fusion .dmg? Or is fusion trying to get the tools from the internet?

I feel I'm nearly there, but not quite. Any observations would be very helpful.

With best wishes

Simon
