Hard to say without seeing the specs for this computer, but is possible for OOo to be too "fat" for it, as is possible as well to be "good enough" or its users to be willing to trade speed for features. Anyway, the computer will be based on Free software and Linux, so the choices are: OpenOffice.org, GNOME Office and KOffice, any of them should be fine and able to interchange files with the others.
