Is this 8.01, Howard? Since you refer to images, if you may be processing them with CFIMAGE, there's a hotfix for image processing specifically related to problems with the resulting files, and it may be connected to your problem. See:

The user uploads images and supporting documents when submitting the expense report. This particular part of app is creating a pdf for the user to be able to print. I think it might have something to do with the images.
