Shalom, camping time might be over but not the struggle for lowering living costs. Hereby I appeal to the Hamakor leadership to start an online campaign to lobby government to adopt Linux and other FOSS in all its institutions (+army, schools/universities, etc..) as long as the issue with the stolen credit cards numbers is still hot. I wrote a letter to the Minister of Science and Technology (Prof. Hershkowitz) urging him to initiate migration of government's entire IT infrastructure to open-source software. I mentioned all the countries that have already done it - from US to Cuba ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Linux_adopters#Government ); sad that Israel is behind many 3 world countries in this regard. Several years ago somebody tried to pass a law in Knesset to do just that, however I don't think there is a need for this to be a law rather it can be done as simple government's regulation. I'm sure he will not listen to me, however considering general revolutionary atmosphere in the region the time is right to try to push them on this issue. What do think about sending a chain email (CC to all Israeli FOSS mailing lists) with a link to an online petition form(/Facebook page) and emails/fax/telephone numbers of Prime Minister, Minister of Defense and Minister of Science and Technology asking people to kindly request from the government to stop wasting tax payers' money and thus rising our cost of living [I'm wondering whether they have discussed this point in Trachtenberg committee] while providing us with faulty IT infrastructure and exposing our highly sensitive personal data to the enemy? Hamakor leaders should be ready to speak to the ministers once they are ready to listen.
