That's the stuff to know. A couple of mistakes that are often made (but
which shouldn't be if you read those files carefully):
- submit a single patch, not a par of full PO files. The patch
will possibly be larger than the full file, but that's not the
point. The point is to be able to check that it applies as an
incremental change to the latest checkout.
- Include a patch to AUTHORS if your name is not already in that
file.
- Don't forget to update djangojs.po as well as django.po
(you'll need to run "django-admin.py makemessages -l uk -d
djangojs.po" to update that file).
If the patch applies cleanly against both trunk and the 1.0.X branch,
mention that and I'll just apply it to both. If there are differences,
you'll need to make two patches. At the moment, it is most likely that
the same patch will apply to both branches. In the future that may well
not be the case as the 1.0.X branch and trunk drift apart.

But for a major update that hasn't been done in years, it's probably
worth us just committing it and sorting out the minor changes over time
through new bug reports. A case of "anything is better than nothing."

If you don't translate those, people won't be able to use them in
Ukranian website (e.g. imagine somebody writing a travel agency
program). And the error messages are certainly relevant, even for
locales that use the Roman alphabet. But you don't have to do them on
the first pass. Translation is an incremental process, after all.
