This idea has come up, let us say, once or twice before.  If you're
trying to undo what mailing list software does and reconstruct the
signature, that is a rathole of no return.  Also keep in mind that
malicious parties can change the signature, too, and there's no way
I know of to tell a malicious rewrite from a benign one.

ARC is designed to deal with this situation.  Take a look.
