Thanks for the help everyone...
Turned out to be something really
strange...Basically just by luck I had my DirectX drivers selected in Cubase (I
don't usually use them) and then unchecked in the Rewire panel the two main outs
for Rebirth (they were selcted as well as the Reason outputs) - and then it all
worked...
Thing is, I can't get Reason and Cubase working
together with the MME drivers which is a pain in the arse, but I'll
survive...

James,
I
think you're problem is that you're running R1 of Cubase.. Rewire 2 is not
properly implemented in Cubase 5 until R4 or R5... You can use HUBI's loopback
to send midi to Reason from Cubase but I've found it to have syncing problems
on my system... (running the Reason upgrade and Cubase 5
R5)
If
you use a later release of Cubase you'll find that each device in reason will
appear in the device list in Cubase and can then be selected and used as
normal... The only problem that I have with this method is that it seems to be
limited to 16 devices.. This wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for
the fact that my default Reason song has more devices than that and only one
of them is an instrument! (Redrum hooked up to a load of compressors etc...).
Anyone know why this is?
cheers,
Nick
I remember
reading somewhere that you needed a midi loopback proggie installed to use
rewire properly, like HUBI'S MIDI LOOPBACK DEVICE. Its freeware, but I can
email it if you cant find it anywhere

Reason...
the only time i ever did a perfect
cubase/reason integration was in computer that were equiped with RME and
MIDIMAN sound cards. this could be coincidential, but i deliver this facts
anyway to help out PC users to solve this mystery.
could it be that this two
manufactures have a better ASIO driver? Why this is a world wide question
and nobody (not even manufacturers - check their site's boardz) can
provide an GOOD answer?

Subject: [dnb-prod] Reason...
I'm just trying to get to grips with using Cubase and
Reason together, but I'm having a few problems...
Basically, I
want to be able to load an instrument (sampler, rex player, etc) in
Reason then using Cubase play notes from that player within Cubase's Key
Editor...
I'm using Cubase VST/32 v5.1 R1 and Reason v1.0.1, but
I cannot get it to do what I want. I've loaded a loop into a Dr Rex Loop
Player in Reason and then in the Output page in Cubase I've selected the
relevant Rex Player, but if I record some notes into the Key Editor - it
doesn't trigger Reason...Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong as I know
it can be done...
Thanks in advance...
