This one's weird - socket 478 is the type used by the Intel
Pentium 4. Looking at the AMD site, 2000XP's certainly run
on the Socket A boards. I can't see anything to the
contrary on the site, but here's the link:
http://www.amd.com/athlonmobo

As for Abit boards, I'm running 2 of them, and I totally
agree with Nick's comment. Maybe we should start a
different mailing list for Abit fetishists..... (or maybe we
need to get out more!).

For some reason I get a hard on for Abit boards :))

Should be a good one... You have a lot of control over the
boards functions
(more so than any other board I've seen) but this may be a
bad thing if you
don't have a clue what you're doing...

Don't know about the socket standard question though..
Sorry..

Nick

Thats good to know. I'm looking at the systemax and that
comes with a KT266a

Socket A motherboard. (to go with athlon DDR system) Do you
think this is a
wise choice of motherboard with future in mind? I saw
something somewhere
saying the new athlon 2000XP used socket 478 (or something
simlilar) so does

this mean socket A is on the way out???
