Title: RE: [dnb-prod] Re: volume

...when you clip whilst recording to hdd, on a PC, it's not so forgiving. I record a lot of sets to minidisc and the same as you, I allow the mix to clip a few times during a set but I never hear any problems. Even when i record via optical back in to the PC to burn, I still don't hear any clips. Guess it's something to do with the software...?

why is digital clipping so bad? quite often when i record from digital desk
to computer, by ADAT, the level on the desk will peak in a couple of
places - it's never caused me a big problem and the mastering engineer i use
has never complained.

am i going wrong?

cheers,
mutiny
