part of the reason the CD sounds different is that
each player has its own sound (someone correct me if i am wrong). have you tried
recording to DAT - another digital medium - and seeing if you're still losing
out on the subs? cos these days there's not much chance of completely avoiding
the digital domain at some point between your head and the pressing plant unless
you've got one of those big ole tape machines...
