Will, Use the samples for stuff you CAN'T do with your PC or your virus. (ok, i know a bunch of software only folks are going to step up and say "your PC can do everything your hardware can" so I'm not trying to start that debate, I agree, you can do everything with the PC except produce analog sound that's not been processed by a D/A convertor) Your virus can do some leads, it's going to do a bass line, and perhaps some pads/strings. It exceeds at doing all of that very nicely. Excellent. Skip that for your sampler. Dunno about the virus's percussion capabilities, but no drum machine is all inclusive. You're GOING to find something you can throw in your emu for percussion. You can also count on sampling bleeps and blips, noise, vocal samples, a riff, your own voice, etc... the sampler is the infinity of the scope of the sound sources. Do you have some music on-line we could hear? Perhaps we could give examples of where you could make use of your sampler from listening to your work. You can also use your sampler to play and modulate in real-time soundscapes and ambience.. yes, expect it be void of the analog warmth, but use the filters to your advantage and expand the creativity... Especially cool when looped and the effects are modulated and chained. You can also use it for the common.. pick up something that's someone else's and play it in your sampler.. modify it, twist it, mangle it, add effects, etc. You can also do something else : record snippets of stuff from TV, Radio, etc. Use effects on it, modulate it, etc.. the possibilities are virtually limitless.
If after trying all of those possibilities.. ya still can't find a use for it.. lemme know and maybe we can work out something where I'm it's new owner.. peaz, Joshua At 12:42 PM 3/13/02, you wrote: >Thanks for your replies....I kinda knew what you'd all say anyways....Read >the fucking manual.... well I have many times, I guess I'm just a bit >confused as to what exactly I'm supposed to be using my Emu for........I >mean I got a Virus sat here that does all my synth stuff, throws out >deadly bass.
