Natural selection is easily subverted. And there is too many people trying to change the "natural selection". It seems that that is possible because people doesn't trust their own instincts or whatever and relay the choise to someone or something else like their idol, "it's a big company". Also we are a group (herd?) animal and tend to do things because others are doing it, not because it's the best thing to do.
