Fun? Not sure I get what you are saying. > but it seems to me that these networks should avoid any reliance on the ICANN > DNS tree. This has been discussed. There are pros and cons on using the current root. But if we don’t, then you are essentially creating an alternate root and you need to recreate the whole trust chain, and myriad of consequences, both technical and governance. > I doubt that any network of space probes on Io can accept the risk of a > technical or governance issue on .io. This draft does not require the use of a specific TLD. There are many hierarchies one can use. We wanted to avoid that discussion and punt it to some other venues. Instead, just the methods to make it work, whatever is the hierarchy chosen. > > Regardless, I think the draft would more helpful if drawn from real-world(s) > systems, rather than speculating about architectures that might apply in some > distant hypothetical scenario. (If some of the proposed architectures are > inspired by real systems, I suggest adding citations to that effect.) The citations are there. It references a draft which gives the overall architecture. That draft includes citations to what the space agencies are doing now. It starts with Moon then Mars. Both are referenced in the deepspace draft. (Look for IOAG documents) So what about the actual content?
