Aljahidh is for eg. a kunya , So Kunya is not only used for the Abu and Umm etc...
Also a Hadith of the prophet: when you meet a person you like ask him about his name, his kunya and his laqab. In the Jahilliya there wasn't a Umm or Abu, there were the Nicknames like nowadays: Alkhansa, antara,etc... So this means that Kunya was percieved in the jahilliya, in the pre-islamic and the late islamic time period a Nickname.
