Ok, a friend just sent me some modified logos. His first remark when he
saw the site a few days ago was the that logo faded into the site too much.

I think that's because the site was designed this way, to glue with the logo.

He's a "brand identity specialist" for his design firm, as he says. He
had a graphic designer he works with mock up a few logos.

Since the mod_perl community had a vote, I assume we are stuck with what we
have.

Well we don't suggest to change the shape of the logo, and the original designer was picking the colors our of vacuum without having to match them to the environment. So IMHO if we try a new color, there is no vote anihiliation problem here. Just like we have voted for the site and then changed it, we can adjust the logo to our needs. enough of my flexible voting scheme rant :)

I like the green and orange logos, too bad I cannot try a whole site to see how it fits when you scroll in and out the area with the logo.

Though whatever we decide I'm totally against matching the link (new|visited) color to the colormap of the logo as suggested on the demo pages by that nice designer. This is totally wrong (usability wise).
