Errr no.

What happened was it expired because Microsoft forgot to pay for it  
and it went NXDOMAIN.

At the time anyone could go to Network Solutions' website and pay the  
annual fee for ANY domain via credit card.

So some kind soul did just that, to reactivate it for Microsoft. From  
memory, they sent him a check and he framed it.
