Yes you are right.  I use Filezilla for such tasks, and that does the 
necessaries.  It's SFTP for Ionos.

Yes I did look at that page, but I thought that was simply what they provide 
for their broadband customers.  I see now that they will probably sell those 
services standalone.

Yes. and that's the rub.  First find a company who's pricing isn't too high (my 
Ionos contract has always been more than I need) and then find one that will 
deal with the migration.

Even Ionos isn't very good in that respect.  Some years ago I allowed one of 
their sale droids to talk me into a cheaper package.  He claimed that there 
were tools to migrate the data to the new servers.  When I tried to do it, I 
found that their tools only migrated the website and I would have had to start 
all over again with email.  I told them to put it all back.
