If all we do is hand out "answers" to all the questions, we're not doing our
jobs. As experienced software engineers, we are obligated to teach those
who have less experience HOW to do things. By just giving the answers,
we're not teaching them. If we teach you HOW to get the answer then you
have gained knowledge that will allow you to take on new technology.

As software engineers, we are often on the "bleeding edge" of technology.
In many instances I have been working on technology that no one else (or
very few) has been working on. That means there was no one to ask questions
to. If all that my senior-level workers in the past had done is just give
me the answers I never would have been able to develop the software that my
company required. However, since I was taught HOW to learn I was able to
successfully complete the task.

If we direct the questions such as this to Google, then they are learning
how to research. Of course, that should have been taught to them in
college, but obviously their college was more interested in their tuition
money than in teaching them.
