Stephen, I totally agree with your statement that this group is to "help people learn HOW to solve the problem" and I appreciate that, but if any of the immediate replies made to asit had asked him (politely) to google it himself, there would have been no problem and I would have believed you taught a man to fish. Certainly, mocking at a person seems to be going beyond the line of ethics. It is not going to invite new users and is surely not making this the "most popular Google group for discussions on Microsoft.NET(R) and related technologies".
It would make newbies nervous and the rest think that this group needs better moderators. I read the welcome message of this group: "Whether you're an Expert consultant, IT Professional, Programmer, Student or simply a Newbie, please feel free to interact with other members, ask questions and share your knowledge" If bitter dirty sarcasm is going to be the common answer, it is better to remove the above statement.
